Pentwyn Leisure Centre
Let people have their say on the Pentwyn Leisure Centre refurbishment
The council’s cabinet has finally revealed their detailed refurbishment plans for Pentwyn Leisure Centre and approved them without a consultation.
The leisure centre was closed in 2020 during the first lockdown and after it was the only centre not to reopen, councillors Dan Naughton and Joe Carter campaigned for the reopening and the full refurbishment.
The new plans include:
- A new smaller 20 metre pool operated by Splash who own a pool on Ocean Way
- There will be a new cafe.
- There will be 2 indoor Padel Tennis courts and 2 smaller outside courts.
- Better will manage the hall, the new gym, the current 3G pitch and the new one where the old bowling green is.
- There will no longer be any community rooms, these will be replaced by the new gym
- Cardiff Blues will have the upstairs and the area where the squash courts were.
We welcome news that the refurbishment is going to happen and it will include a pool, but we are concerned that we will have less facilities than before and people have never been consulted to find out what they want.
